Apple Compote

Ingredients

  • Apples(1 kg before peeling)
  • Sugar(32.5 g of white or brown sugar + 1 packet (7.5 g) of vanilla sugar*)
  • Water(200 mL)

Preparation

  • Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into small chunks.
  • In a pot, put the apples, the sugar and the water.
  • Cook uncovered on medium-low heat, stirring every now and then, until the apples are soft enough to be mashed with a fork.
  • Mash the apples with the utensil of your choice. (I use a potato masher but a fork or a food processor work just as well.)
  • Eat warm or cold, depending of your taste. (I prefer warm ♡)

*If vanilla sugar isn't an option, you can replace it by a similar amount of regular sugar plus a few drops of vanilla extract.
